21 July: During the Zamling Chisang (Universal Prayer Day) on 18 July 2008 was observed by all the students and staff of Tibetan Children's Village and Schools with an early morning Sangsol (Tsampa Offering) at the school Temple.
On that day, group of Upper TCV School Staff Welfare Committee members collected thousands of prayer flags from the children and staff and were brought on top of the Tso Pema (Rewalsar Lake). Knowing the importance of the auspicious day (Full Moon), the donations received were utilised to feed the fish and offered to various monasteries and nuns who were meditating at the Tso Pema hill so as to avoid one's obstacles, sins and bring good luck and fortune in the days to come...
15 July: Bharat Jyoti Award to Mrs. Jetsun Pema la
Mrs. Pema was one of the recipients of the award among several other prominent personalities at a function held in Delhi on 28th March 2008. Due to her pre-engagements Mrs. Pema was unable to attend the function but the Administrator, Tibetan Youth Hostel, Delhi, received the Award on her behalf.
This is a great recognition to Mrs. Pema's selfless sacrifices and dedication for Tibetan children in particular and the Tibetan community as a whole in general and we are very happy for her.
The India International Friendship Society is one of India's leading voluntary organization and advocates strongly in economic growth and national integration. It also stands as a champion in the vital area of forging friendships between individuals, corporate, regions, religions and nations for peace, progress and prosperity of the global community. The Society has awarded the same to many eminent personalities from different walks of life including Mother Teresa.
8 July: The much awaited Summer Camp (7 Jul-16 Aug) for the Tibetan Children living outside Indian Sub-Continent is being opened here at the House of Peace, TCV School Dharamsala on 7 July and will go on till 16 August 2008. The camp was participated by 29 Tibetan Children (13 Boys & 16 Girls) age between 7-19 years who were either born or raised in 7 different countries prominently North America (USA & Canada), France, U.K., Nepal and Hongkong.

The main aims and objectives of the camp are to enable them to learn Tibetan language, culture, history and basic principles of Buddhism, to experience first hand the Tibetan exile community in India through visits and interaction with TCV children and to enable the children to get a feel of the Tibetan spirit of maintaining their identity in exile and a better sense of understanding and appreciation of the Tibetan cause and aspirations.
The summer camp was inaugurated with Mr. Thupten Dorjee, TCV General Secretary as the chief guest along with Mr. Tenzin Sangpo, TCV Education Director, Mr. Phuntsok Namgyal, Village Director and Mrs. Sonam Dolkar, Principal of Upper TCV School. They all gave summarized information about the TCV Summer Camp and its importance. Later they introduced the entire faculty, organizers and the respective home mothers before they had their delicious Tibetan tea, snacks and mixed sweetened rice. Also present during the day were proud parents and guardians of the children who have come to lent their moral support to them.
The main areas to be focused in the camp were: Tibetan language, history, culture, songs and dance, theatre, folk tales and art, food and cuisines, special guest lectures and out door trips and visits to different TCV Schools in the Himachal Pradesh.
