From a tentative start in 1985, today EDRC plays a vital role in the development of children's education in Tibetan Schools in Exile. The centre has established itself into one of the major sources of educational service for all the Tibetan Schools in Exile. It produces textbooks, teaching aids, educational equipments and other resource materials in the Tibetan language. Simultaneously, it conducts workshops and orientation programmes for teachers and other concerned staff.
Today, all the primary schools in exile follow TCV's Tibetanization curriculum, and this has made a significant difference in the children's learning.
If Tibetan Education in exile is to have a lasting imprint on the future generations of Tibetans in Tibet and outside, the work we do at this centre must be seminal in the renewal of our educational system in Tibet.
