25 Dec: For the Red Cross Nordic United World College Scholarship 2010, Miss Rinchen Dolma of TCV School Selakui has been selected on 25 Dec 2009 out of the 8 preliminary selected students from various TCV Schools.

Every year one student from the TCV School gets admission in this prestigious School and this is the 8th time our students are joining there. The selection of the student for this Scholarship is purely on merit basis by the TCV Head Office.

24 Dec: Prof. Alice Walker, Winner of Pulitzer Prize (1983) for her novel ‘The Colour Purple’, a close Associate of Martin Luther King and a highly respected Non-Violent Activist often quoted by Barack Obama as an inspiration and an American Icon along with Mr. LC Jain & Mrs. Devaki Jain, well known and respected living Gandhians as well as activist in India visited TCV School Dharamshala this morning, 24 Dec 2009.

They were on a 4-day trip to Dharamsala from 23-26 Dec 2009 and will make a visit to various Tibetan Institutes including an audience with His Holiness the Dalai Lama and a meeting with Kalon Tripa Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche.

14 Dec: TCV Montessori Teacher's Workshop has been started at Upper TCV School on 14 December and will last till 25 Dec 2009. The first session was taken by Mr. Tenzin Sangpo, TCV Education Director followed by Mr. Ngawang Sherap, Head of the TCV Montessori Teacher's Training (MTT). The workshop is being participated by 20 Montessori teachers from 5 different TCV Schools in Himachal State plus TCV Day School at Majnu-Ka-Tilla in Delhi.

During these 10 days of workshop, the montessori teachers will have various interative classes, sharing of teaching experiences, children's ryhmes and songs in Tibetan, Tibetan honorofic, etc.

10 Dec: Nobel Peace Prize DayTibetans, it's friends and supporters as well as all the peace loving people around the world observed the Nobel Peace Prize Day and International Human Rights Day on 10 December 2009. In Dharamsala, thousands of people of all kinds gathered at the Tsuklagkhang to celebrate the day.

Chief Justice Commissioner, Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile and Acting Kalon Tripa Ven. Tsering Phuntsok of the Central Tibetan Administration were the chief guest during the occassion. Ven. Tsering Phuntsok delivered the Kashag's statement before the public.

It was followed by release of the Tibetan translation of the pictorial book written by prominent author Woeser, titled 'Forbidden Memories-Tibet during the Cultural Revolution (1966-1976)' by the Norwegian Tibet Committee. The first edition was a free distribution and given to various institutes and schools esp. for research purpose. Various cultural songs and dances were performed by the children and Institutes during the day and etertained the guests as well as general public.
